As the results from this election continue to come in from around Hillsborough County, it is clear that we will not be able to make up the difference in the outstanding votes. I recently called Pat Kemp to congratulate her and wish her the best in her new role as County Commissioner.

It has been an honor and a privilege to meet so many people around our community. It is one of the truly great things about running in this race.

Just 10 months ago, less than 2% of registered Republicans knew my name. But, tonight we received the votes of almost a quarter of a million residents of Hillsborough County. That’s 65,000 more votes than the last countywide commission winner received. I am humbled by your faith in me and thankful for your support. I could not have done this alone.

I want to take a moment to thank my family, for all of the sacrifices they have made during this campaign, our friends for standing with us, and all of our supporters and volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication.

Finally, I want to convey one last thought as it relates to our local government. The issues we face as a community impact each of us every day. They are personal because they impact our quality of life. We should expect and demand more from our elected leaders. And in doing so, we will continue to “Schock” the County Commission!
